the calendar project — paintings . . .

The "calendar project" is a series of 12 multi-panel paintings. The individual panels are unique paintings, one for each day of a year, and configured into a grid of 5 rows by 7 columns.  Each calendar painting is based on a specific month, the shape determined by the number of days and on which day that month begins and ends. February, 28 days long, for example, begins on a Tuesday, the third column, and ends on a Monday, the second column.  All works measure approximately 55 x 55” and are mixed media on hand made birch panels.

the calendar project: book — navigations in time . . .

Beyond the paintings, a limited edition accordion fold book is available that presents the entire project in one place. Each fold holds an image of one of the 12 calendar configurations on one side and a detail from that month on the reverse, along with some text.  It is housed in a slip case (9 x 1.25 x 1") covered in a beautiful bronze colored silk cloth.   Each of the 50 copies is printed with archival inks on 100% cotton rag paper, hand bound, signed and numbered.
