| The
"calendar" paintings
are
hung in 5 rows by 7 columns; measuring approximately 55 inches
square. Each configuration is based on a specific month, the
shape
determined by the days on which the month begins and ends. February,
for example, begins on a Tuesday - the third column and ends on a
Monday - the second column. All
works are mixed media; graphite, pigment, ink, acrylic and oil paints,
metal leaf, and wax on layers of Japanese papers over hand made birch
panels. Individual panels measure 9.5 inches high by 6.5 inches
wide. The other configurations capture smaller fragments of time, a week or a specific number of days. Each panel also measures 9.5 inches high by 6.5 inches wide, and utilize the same materials. The overall dimensions are specific to each piece by multiplying the number of panels by the dimensions. |
