While wandering I notice something: a darting bird, wind whispering through fallen leaves, or twisted kelp washed ashore after a winter storm. From these encounters I attempt to capture some substance, bring it back to the studio - desiring to keep its essence with me for just a moment longer.
I work in series exploring theme and variation through abstraction. Strongly influenced by nature, poetry, music, and love of materials, I combine drawing and painting with borrowed techniques from printmaking and bookbinding.
